How to Cancel an Audible Membership
Cancelling Audible is a short web flow — but whether you lose your unused credits depends on who was billing you.

Deleting the app does not cancel it
Audible states that deleting the Audible app will not cancel a membership — you cancel from Account details on the Audible site.
- You can cancel on the website at any time; Audible sends a confirmation email and updates the status on your Account details page.
- Memberships billed through Apple or Google cannot be cancelled on the Audible site and must be ended in that store.
- Titles bought with credits, a credit card, or a debit card remain yours after cancelling.
- If you have credits and do not want to lose them, Audible says you may be eligible to pause the membership instead.
Before you cancel
- Check for unused credits — Audible states Premium members lose access to all unused credits at the end of the final billing cycle.
- Check for downloaded Plus Catalogue titles — they become locked after cancelling.
- Establish who bills you — Audible, Apple, or Google. It changes both where you cancel and what happens to credits.
- If keeping the credits is the point, Audible offers pausing as the alternative.
Cancelling on the Audible site

Select your username in the top navigation
Select your username from the Audible desktop site's top navigation.
View Audible's official cancellation article (opens an external site)
Select Account details
Open Account details.
Select the Cancel membership link
Select the Cancel membership link.
Keep selecting Continue to cancel
You will be asked to confirm. Select Continue to cancel until you reach the cancel confirmation page.
On mobile web
- Select the ≡ main menu (hamburger button).
- Select your account.
- Select Cancel membership.
If Apple or Google bills you
Audible states that memberships billed through Apple or Google cannot be cancelled through the Audible site and must be cancelled through the App Store and/or Google Play Store.
In this case the credits survive
Audible states credits received through an App Store or Google Play Store membership do not expire and remain in your account after cancellation, and that extra credits purchased in those stores do not expire either.
What happens after you cancel
- Unused credits
- At the end of the final billing cycle, Audible Premium members lose access to all unused credits and member benefits, including exclusive discounts and included Plus Catalogue titles.
- Titles you purchased
- Titles bought with a credit, credit card, or debit card are yours to keep, stay in your Library whether or not you are a member, and can be downloaded as many times as you want.
- Plus Catalogue titles
- Audible states you lose access to any included Plus Catalogue titles you have downloaded, and those titles become locked.
- Buying after cancelling
- You may keep using your account to purchase new titles without a membership, and locked titles can be bought outright or unlocked by becoming a member again.
