This page describes how we decide what goes into a guide. It describes what is true today, and we will revise it when something changes rather than writing promises in advance.
Where our facts come from
Every cancellation step we publish comes from the service's own documentation. We read the official help page, and we link to it so you can check us.
- If a service does not document a step, we do not write it. We would rather publish a shorter guide than a guessed one.
- We do not construct URLs, invent button names, or estimate how long something takes.
- When we cannot confirm something, the guide says so instead of filling the gap.
- Each guide records when we last checked it.
How difficulty is decided
A difficulty rating reflects the documented procedure: how many steps there are, how many separate places can bill you, whether cancelling requires a phone call, a letter, or a visit, and whether deadlines or fees apply.
- It is based on what the service documents, not on how we feel about the company.
- We are building a separate anonymous survey of how hard people found it in practice. When it exists, those numbers will be shown separately and will never be merged into the documented rating.
- We do not verify anyone's cancellation. Any figure from that survey will be described as reported by readers.
What commercial relationships cannot do
We currently have no affiliate relationships and no advertisers. The rules below are written now so that they are in place before any money is.
- Difficulty ratings and rankings are not for sale.
- An advertiser or affiliate programme cannot review, approve, or request changes to a guide.
- We are designing this as a code boundary rather than a policy: the module that calculates difficulty is not permitted to read commercial data. Until that boundary and its tests are in place, we describe it as a design intention and not as a completed safeguard.
- We do not place advertising inside cancellation steps.
- Anything paid is labelled.
Corrections
Services change their cancellation flows without telling us. When a guide is wrong, we want to fix it quickly rather than defend it. If you find something that no longer matches what you see on screen, please write to us — the address is on our advertising page.
- We re-read the official documentation before changing a guide.
- When a procedure changes, we intend to record what changed and when, so the history is visible rather than quietly overwritten.
